Slider with certain incremental value and number formatting

I have a slider that sets a dollar value to a text.
Two questions:
1. How do I insert a comma for the amount (for instance $17,500).
2. Is there a way to increment every 1,000 versus 1?

Actually, I need to paraphrase my ask:
1. As you move the slider the amount goes up by a certain amount.
It would be awesome if the amount displayed is rounded to the nearest 1000. So it would be something like $5,000, $6,000, $7,000, and so forth until $40,000.
2. Also it would be nice to have a comma in the formating ie: $40,000 as opposed to just $40000
