I'm not sure what you mean with "dimensions" of the image.

Another thing that does not work with the mask is the "Change Style"-Interaction on Mouseover.

Hello, sorry for the inconvenience, we have found a bug with the mask, we have already reported it and it will be worked on in future updates, meanwhile as a workaround, you can use a dynamic panel as a mask.

How can this workaround can be achieved, when the image is grouped to a dynamic panel? I can then crop the image (like here: https://www.justinmind.com/support/exercises-dynamic-panels/) but I didn't find and option to transform the image to this diamond form.

Hello, if you select the dynamic panel and then move the mouse to the corner it will turn into a curved arrow, so you can modify the position.
