Can you rename a dynamic panel to something other than "dynamic_panel_4"?

Answered Victor Conesa 8 years ago

I'd like to rename my dynamic panels so I know which one is which. Just having a number attached to them doesn't help me know which one I need to edit right off the bat. I'd like to make them more meaningful. When I right click on one in the Outline panel, it doesn't give me a "Rename" option. Any help would be great. Thanks.

You sure can!

Like most components, you rename them in the "General" section of the "Properties" pane. In the GIF image below, I'm renaming one of the layers of the panel, but the panel itself if the box immediately above, labeled "ID".

Oh my goodness I completely missed that! Can you tell I'm new to the software?? :D

Thank you!

Of course! It's my pleasure to help. And yeah, we were all new to the software at one time. I'm glad I found it, though!

Wouldn't it be better if you can rename it by double click on the Panel in the outline list? just like how you rename the layers in Photoshop or sketch?

+1 for this request. The outline could be *so* much more useful if it supported renaming and other functions as in Photoshop.

I made this request over a year ago, but never heard back from JustinMind: Please "Like" my original request to see if we can get some action on it.

Hi all,

Our development team is working on it but there is no set date yet to be implemented. Thank you for reporting this

And while the good people of JustinMind are making our lives better, they may consider a rich and editable set of keyboard shortcuts, a la Photoshop. I love being able to navigate up and down through a massive PSD file's 100s of layers with Command-[ and Command-] (Ctrl-[ and Ctrl-] on Windows, I guess) and press a keyboard shortcut to start editing without having to take my hands off the keyboard.

JustinMind is a power user tool like Photoshop, and your users would absolutely *delight* if it had power user features, too!
