Dynamic panel automatic height (fit height to content)

Under Consideration Victor Conesa 9 years ago

Currently if you resize other elements inside one main dynamic panel with vertical alignment, it has to be manually resized to "make space" for elements that are pushed down.

What I mean is: make the dynamic panels behave like a divs in CSS, with height:auto

You can use percentage-based height to scale your Dynamic Panel to fit its parent.

Just select the panel and look to the Properties palette. Look to Height and click on the 'px' dropdown. Change it to '%' and in the height's value, type 100. Now, the Dynamic Panel will automatically scale to 100% of the screen's height.

Hi Maciej,

Thank you for your suggestion! I'll forward it to the development team and notify you when implemented in a new update.

GO, Maciej! This guy knows your product almost as well as you do. I wholeheartedly endorse this suggestion.

Hey Lidia,

same would be great for the width of a dynamic panel: fit height to content.

And by the way, it would be great to be able to use the alignment features on normal groups. Now you are forced to use dyanamic groups even if you don't want to add multiple states ...

Thanks :)

Hi there,

I have already informed to our development team to speed the process if possible. It is still under consideration but unfortunately we cannot implement everything we wish because resources and time are limited.

Hi there,

Any news about the possibility to change dynamically the size of a specific cell(with the content of a variable) in a datagrid ?

The fact that all the cells of a datagrid have always the same size is a real issue of the use of data master.

Hi stefclerc,

The example attached should help.

It would be really helpful to be able to set a parent panel to autosize rather than trying to do math to calculate the contents of the panel (which would be intensely cumbersome because I have collapsable items and data grids that expand). This would be great, when I was evaluating JustInMind vs Axure I noticed Axure does have this functionality, I did choose to go with JustInMind despite that and now have a license.

Hi Adam,

We're actually planning to integrate percentage-based autosizing in our next update in the coming weeks. Hopefully this will be helpful for you.

Any movement on this feature? I am creating drag drop prototypes between two dynamic panels and I need nested panels to resize according to the children dragged into them. I haven't been able to find a way to do this currently...

Unfortunately no update on this feature. However, we've created a workaround:

The attached prototype works by changing the value of a variable if the rectangles are dropped within the dynamic panel. Then, when that variable changes, it will resize the dynamic panel depending on the value of the variable. For example, when 2 rectangles are dropped in the dynamic panel, the variable's value is 2, and the dynamic panel is resized to fit 2 rectangles. Check out the attached prototype and let me know if you have any questions.

Hello,

I see that this feature is indicated as "Planned". Is this correct ? If yes, can you provide some visibility on the expected delivery date ?

Hello,

I cannot give an exact date but I don't believe it will be completed this year. I hope this answer helps!
