Event action with "play audio" does not work outside simulator

I'm trying to use the "play audio" event action on page load but... it only works in the simulator. If I get the public link and go to the browser to run my prototype, it doesn't play.

Could this be a feature limited to only paid subscription accounts? (I have a trial sub).

Note: If I publish JIM's "add audio" demo prototype, its "onclick + play audio" actions all work. But, maybe JIM forced that behavior so that prospectives like me can see the function in use?

After some testing (using the public link to run the web prototype), I can say that the "play audio" action can work. Using the "on tap" event, it is entirely reliable. It works on Mac OS Chrome, Mac OS Safari, and iOS Chrome. The trouble is when you use the "on page load" event. In this case, for me, it only works on Mac OS Chrome. Failed on Mac OS Safari and iOS Chrome.

Any insight/workaround on how I can get an audio file to play reliably when a page loads?

Follow-up... the most reliable way I've found for triggering a "play audio" in an on-page-load circumstance is to use the dynamic panel construct. Using an active panel as the event triggering the audio works well.

For the sake of saving someone else time... I must have been mistaken. There's no viable way of playing a sound upon page load whether that be using the "set active panel" trigger or "variable change" trigger. I even tried a javascript onclick. This is most likely a result of mobile browser restrictions on autoplay and not something within JIM's control. So, there you have it. AFAIK, you need to have at least 1 click (kind of an "opt-in" by the user) to play audio in the mobile browser.

You are right. The play audio action works, however, it doesn't when is combined with the "On page load". It is a bug that is on top of our development team to be solved in the future but unfortunately there is no set date yet.

I am trying to play the audio in various events like tap and gesture, but still doenst work on an iPhone device.


Can you please help with whats wrong with audio file usage events?
