Turning off Interactive Area Highlighting
When launching a prototype for testing, if a user clicks outside of an interactive region, the interactive regions are all highlighted. While this is helpful if working with a client during a meeting (where there may be no need for extensive discovery in your presentation), it is problematic in a data collection environment.
I've tested this in both the hosted version and the simulated environment to the same effect. Additionally, this highlighting is present regardless the interactive element used (a hotspot and a transparent rectangle with a link, etc.)
How do you turn this automatic highlighting effect off?
Hi John,
You can turn off highlighting by going to Simulate -> Simulation settings -> Uncheck 'Highlight interactive elements'
Best,
Danielle

Hah, that's super easy to manage! Thank you Danielle.

I'm in version 6.9.1.
The toggle for this function is not available. Am I crazy or is it only available in later builds?

Hi, I am using Justinmind Version 9.9.4 on M1 Mac (free account) to create a mockup for a usability test. Unfortunately the mockup keeps highlighting interactive areas, which is not good to do proper usability tests. I go to File/Simulate/Settings and leave the box "Highlight interactive areas" unticked, I update and sync the prototype, but the clickable areas are still highlighted on the web version and when I test it in on mobile devices (Android and iOS). [Same thing with feature "fit to screen"]. It seems to be impossible to turn it off. Why is that? M1 Mac related issue? Is is a functionality that works only on paid versions? Thank you very much

Hi Ria, thank you for your reply. Sure, should I attach it here or should I send it per email?

Hi Ria, here it is. I used images from a Miro board (the images include buttons and text) and added transparent buttons over the image. When I click outside the buttons, a highlight appears in blue. It does not happen anymore on the web version, but it keeps happening on the mobile ones. Thank you very much. Kind regards

Hello,
The "File/Simulate/Settings" configuration is only meant for local simulation. When you upload the prototype to the cloud to be seen for your reviewers to see, you need to configure the "File/Share with reviewers and developers/Settings" options.
